GEOMETRIC RITUAL SHAPES IN THE POST-PALEOLITHIC SCULPTURE





Fig. F10) Geometric stone sculptures.
These sculptures are defined "geometric stones" by South American archaeologists. Their use is unknown, but they can re-enter in the spiritual culture, in how much they do not have a possible use in the material culture. Originating from the archaeological site of Quebrada in Las Conchas, north of Chile, they dated 9500 years ago. More in the south, same types have been discovered in province of Coquimbo, dating between 8500 and 8000 years ago.
Size: from 7 to 10 cm.
